WHO WE ARE

Ghana Girl Guides Association, GGGA is a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). WAGGGS is the world’s largest voluntary movement for girls and young women. Currently there are more than 10 million Girl Guides from 150 countries across the world. We are open to all girls, whatever their religion, ethnic group, background or challenge. This instils a strong spirit of tolerance and respect for others in the girls.

What We Do

We focus on leadership development and active citizenship. Guiding in Ghana is mostly organized in Schools and these are referred to as Units or Company’s. Meetings are held during their extracurricular time, they enjoy various activities which they plan as the term begins; camping, cooking without fire, learning of guide songs and games etc.

WE DRIVE THE FUTURE!

Through guiding, a lot of girls acquire knowledge, skills and exposure in an informal, fun way. The girls turn to appreciate what they learn and practice it. For over 100 years, Girl Guiding has transformed the lives of girls and young women across the country, supporting and empowering them to achieve their fullest potential and to become responsible citizens of the world.

The second group is known as Cadets – they are trained to be leaders in the youth movement and then also as adult leaders. (19 – 24year old)

Guides who are 25 to 30 years are referred to as young leaders. They assist Adult leaders in handling Guide units. Guides who are above 30 years are known as Adult leaders. They are leaders of Guide units in Schools.
