All about the Winter Experience Camp UK 2023

Winter Experience, an international travel opportunity to the United Kingdom is an annual camping event held for Girl Guides in the world to visit and explore the culture of the Great Britain.

This experience has impacted thousands of Girl Guides over the past 80 years in the development of their leadership qualities, as members learn new skills, share ideas and connect with sister guides around the globe. It also gives opportunities for tours and other cultural experience from various countries.

Ghana Girl Guides represented at Winter Experience, UK

This year, the Ghana Girl Guides association is happy to announce to all interested members/guides of ages from six to seventeen years including young and adult leaders in the country to be a part of this remarkable travel experience coming December.

Event Schedule

The camp would commence in December 2023 with departure to the United Kingdom scheduled for 17th December, 2023 and end with an arrival to Ghana on 10th January, 2023. The camp officially ends on 22nd December, 2023 of which participants are allowed for a family home stay until 9th January, 2023. Possible airlines to be used for this trip are British Airways/Fly Emirates. Some of the activities highlighted for the camp are triple zip, Blu-ray, cinema, indoor laser zone, excursions among others. Please find the details of the travel outline below:

  • Camp Ends Date: 22nd December, 2023
  • Family home stay: 22nd December to 10th January, 2023
  • Departure from UK: 10th January, 2023

Visa Acquisition Requirements

For girl guides who would take this trip under their various institutions/schools would be required to provide the following documents upon request for visa acquisition.

  • Traveling Passport
  • Birth Certificate
  • Parent Consent Letter
  • Sponsor Consent Letter
  • Introductory Letter from School
  • Bank Statement (not older than 6 months) and all other documents as demanded by the High Commission.
Travel Expenses and Payment Process

A non-refundable fee of £800, covering (Visa fee, Camp fee and administrative cost) is to be paid before mid October and the top-up to be paid within the first week of November. The travel cost for the trip covers majority of the travel expenses which includes:

  • Air fare
  • Camp fee
  • Feeding
  • Accommodation
  • Transportation from Airport to camp site and back
  • Travel/Health Insurance
  • 1 Preparatory camp in Accra
  • 2 T. Shirts
  • Administrative cost
