Ghana Girl Guides officially welcomes YESS participants

The national commissioners of the Ghana Girl Guides Association has officially welcomed all participants of the YESS programme back from their various host associations. This took place at the GGGA national training center last Friday, October 23, 2020. This event welcomed very hard working ladies who participated in the exchange program namely; Linda Wilson, Linda Amoako and Valentina from Rwanda, Madagascar and Uganda respectively.

The association also welcomed Gladys Osei Bonsu who also travelled on behalf of the Association in January to volunteer at Paxlodge.

The participants had the opportunity to share experiences they gathered from these countries with the Association and the National Commissioners who were present at the event and they also shared how the programme has helped shaped their lives and the need to keep the programme running as a guiding group.

The YESS program (Youth Exchange South to South) is an international exchange offer supported and funded by Norec (Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation). The WAGGS Programme started in the Africa Region in 2015 and has to date facilitated 251 young women between the ages of 18 to 25 from 15 Member organisations in Africa and Asia Pacific.

Ghana Girl Guides Association was signed on to this exchange in January, 2020. The Association sent out three young women to Uganda, Rwanda and Madagascar. Four young women from Tanzania, Rwanda, Madagascar and Uganda were also sent to Ghana during the exchange.
