Empowering Leaders: GGGA Hosts Adult Leaders Training
In a dedicated effort to strengthen leadership and enhance the Girl Guides movement, the Association convened an enriching Adult Leaders Training on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Held at the Joyce-Dorothy Hall within the National Training Centre (Kusafiri), the training brought together approximately forty-six passionate individuals, comprising both existing and new adult leaders.
The Adult Leaders Training served as a pivotal platform for equipping participants with the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills to excel in their roles within the Girl Guides movement. Guided by the core principles of empowerment and leadership development, the training curriculum covered a wide array of essential topics aimed at fostering effective leadership and organizational excellence.
Throughout the training, participants delved into a diverse range of subjects crucial to their roles as adult leaders. Highlights of the training curriculum included:
- Ghana Girl Guides Scheme of Work: Participants received comprehensive insights into the Ghana Girl Guides Scheme of Work, gaining a deeper understanding of the structured framework guiding the organization’s activities and initiatives.
- Unit Management Strategies: Attendees were equipped with invaluable knowledge on how to initiate and effectively manage a Girl Guide Unit. From logistical considerations to program planning, participants learned the essential skills needed to ensure the success and sustainability of their respective units.
- WAGGGS Initiatives: The training also provided a platform for exploring initiatives and programs spearheaded by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Participants gained valuable insights into global best practices and innovative approaches to guiding, enriching their leadership capabilities, and expanding their horizons.
In addition to the enriching training sessions, participants were treated to a delightful cultural experience as they learned how to prepare “kulikuli,” a beloved Ghanaian snack synonymous with the Northern Region of Ghana. Made from groundnut paste, the culinary session added a flavorful twist to the training program, fostering cultural appreciation among participants.
The training concluded with participants expressing their gratitude for the invaluable knowledge and skills acquired throughout the session. Empowered and inspired, attendees departed the training equipped with newfound insights, strengthened leadership capabilities, and a renewed commitment to advancing the Girl Guides movement in Ghana.
