Recap of the National Volunteers Training by Ghana Girl Guides Association
On 4th of November, 2023, the Ghana Girl Guides Association orchestrated an enriching National Volunteer Training at the National Training Centre, Achimota-Accra. This event, aimed at increasing the capacities of volunteers within the association, was a testament to the commitment of nurturing leadership, fostering collaboration, and empowering responsible citizenship among volunteers. Spearheaded by the National Training Coordinator, Mrs. Stephanie Ayariga, and supported by other facilitators, the training was a catalyst for instilling essential Girl Guiding skills and values in the 25 enthusiastic participants.
The core focus of the training was on equipping volunteers with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively support the association’s training, monitoring, and evaluation of units. Participants delved into comprehensive sessions emphasizing the Girl Guiding Educational Method, Girl Guiding Quality Experience non-formal education, MO’s initiatives; Surf Smart, Free Being Me, national and international volunteering opportunities, advocacy and nurturing friendships within the Girl Guides community. These pivotal discussions aimed to cultivate a sense of shared responsibility and togetherness among the volunteers, emphasizing the significance of collective action in driving local and global initiatives.
A key highlight of the training was the emphasis on guiding volunteers to become responsible citizens, both within their communities and on a global scale. The sessions were meticulously crafted to instill a sense of awareness and social responsibility, encouraging participants to actively engage in initiatives that positively impact their communities. Discussions revolved around the role of Girl Guiding opportunities in honing leadership skills and channeling them towards meaningful contributions to society.
