Connecting Digital Communities: The Official Opening of an ICT Centre at Ghana Girl Guides Association by ATC Ghana
The spirit of innovation and empowerment took center stage on the 22nd of November, 2023, as a significant event unfolded at the Ghana Girl Guides Association. The occasion marked the official opening of the ATC Ghana Digital Communities ICT Centre—a transformative step towards empowering girls in the fields of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

The thirty-three capacity ICT Centre, a testament to the commitment towards fostering digital literacy and equipping girls with essential skills for the future, signifies a new chapter in the journey towards gender equality and empowerment.
The ceremony was graced with the presence of the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Virginia Palmer (Special Guest of Honour), Zakiya Abdu Wahab (Chief Commissioner, Ghana Gir Guides Association), Cynthia Labram
(International Commissioner, Ghana Girl Guide Association), Ashutosh Singh ( CEO, ATC Ghana) Marek Busfy (CEO, ATC Africa), Letitia Asiedu-Attafuah (Head of HR/Sustainability Lead, ATC Ghana), Matti Craig (Global Volunteers International), Dr. Yaw Osei Adutum, (Minister of Education), Shellie Baxter (Founder, Our Genetic Legacy), amongst other highly respected dignitaries.
The opening ceremony featured insightful speeches by industry experts and inspirational figures, highlighting the importance of ICT and STEM education for girls’ empowerment and their role as future leaders and innovators. Plaque unveiling and ribbon-cutting ceremony was presided over by the US Ambassador to Ghana and other notable personalities, including representatives from ATC Ghana and prominent members of the Ghana Girl Guides Association. The cutting of the ribbon symbolized the unveiling of limitless opportunities for girls, providing them with access to state-of-the-art technology, resources, and mentorship to explore the realms of ICT and STEM.
