Igniting Passion; National Volunteers Training
The Ghana Girl Guides Association last Saturday, 27th January, 2024 organized a transformative National Volunteers Training at the National Training Centre (Kusafiri). This event, aimed at equipping volunteers with the tools to embrace and thrive in their roles, witnessed the gathering of passionate individuals committed to the noble cause of volunteerism.
The National Volunteers Training was a session of inculcating the spirit of volunteerism in young and adult leaders as spearheaded by the National Training Coordinator, Mrs. Stephanie Ayariga. Volunteers, both seasoned and newcomers, were immersed in enlightening sessions sharing volunteer experiences with Amalia Amerley, Maasilina Naa Merley, and Donatella Esinam Kudoto as facilitators. These facilitators, embodying the spirit of selfless service, shared insights, and personal stories that resonated with the aspiring volunteers, emphasizing the impact and rewards of dedicating one’s time and skills to a cause. The volunteers also had a session with the Projects and Programmes Manager, Eli Katsekpor who shared a brief history about Kusafiri and enlightened the volunteers with the projects and programmes the association runs as well as the activity schedule for the year.
Integral to the training was a dynamic Team Building session, where the Youth Exchange South to South (YESS) Girls shared their volunteer experiences and team building activities from their various countries. The exchange program brought together six girls – five volunteers and a professional each from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Madagascar. This signifies the global sisterhood that the Girl Guides and Girls Scouts represent.
The Team Building session was not just about games; it was a celebration of unity, collaboration, and the strength that arises from embracing diversity. These moments of connection created a foundation for stronger bonds that would endure throughout their stay in Ghana.
