Kusafiri World Centre Hosts Virtual Rally for World Thinking Day 2024

In a vibrant celebration of unity, innovation, and environmental stewardship, the Kusafiri World Centre proudly hosted a dynamic Virtual Rally on 17th February, 2024, to commemorate World Thinking Day 2024. Amidst the challenges of a rapidly changing world, this year’s theme, “Our World, Our Thriving Future,” served as a powerful call to action, inspiring Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide to champion sustainability and positive change.

Bringing together over sixty passionate participants from diverse backgrounds and corners of the globe, the Virtual Rally served as a testament to the unifying spirit of the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts movement. Despite geographical distances, participants converged on a common digital platform via Zoom, eager to exchange ideas, share experiences, and ignite collective action towards a brighter, more sustainable future.

At the heart of the Virtual Rally was a showcase of the remarkable impact Girl Guides and Girl Scouts have made in fostering environmental consciousness and driving positive change within their communities. Highlighting the invaluable contributions of Kusafiri World Centre Community Partners, including Mckingtorch Africa, participants were treated to inspiring presentations showcasing innovative approaches to upcycling plastics and nurturing thriving ecosystems.

Throughout the Virtual Rally, a spotlight was cast on the pivotal role girls and young women play in shaping a sustainable future. From leading grassroots initiatives to spearheading transformative projects, participants gained valuable insights into the power of youth-led action in driving environmental sustainability and fostering resilience in the face of global challenges.

In a spirit of collaboration and hands-on learning, the Virtual Rally featured two concurrent breakout sessions facilitated by units of the Ghana Girl Guides Association. In the first breakout room, participants delved into the creative process of recycling water sachets and polythene into reusable bags, led by the Ningo Prampram Community. Meanwhile, in the second breakout room, the Hillview Montessori School led a hands-on workshop on repurposing plastic bottles into practical pen and pencil holders.

As the Virtual Rally drew to a close, participants emerged with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm. Excitedly sharing their experiences and insights, attendees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate towards a shared vision of a more sustainable and thriving future. The event concluded on a high note, with participants inspired and energized to continue their journey as stewards of the environment and advocates for positive change.
